Specialist network within the Resident group
Resident has in recent years built up an internal specialist network. Instead of referring every specialty to external specialists, our specialists are available at multiple locations and work interdisciplinarily within the Resident group.
This overview shows the most important specialists in implantology and anesthesia, their focuses and their location availability.
Oral surgery and implantology
Dr. Dejan Dragisic, oral surgery specialist
Main location: Resident Bellevue, Stadelhoferstrasse 42, 8001 Zurich.
Dr. Dragisic is a specialist in oral surgery (Specialist Register GDC London No. 100498), Fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI) and Senior Consultant at the Center for Dental Medicine of the University of Zurich. Trained at the University of Witten/Herdecke and at the Eastman Dental Hospital London.
Focuses:
- Bone augmentation with autologous or synthetic material.
- Sinus lift in the upper jaw posterior area.

- Wisdom tooth removal and apicoectomy.
Consultations at the Zurich Bellevue location.
Dr. Markus Franke, founder Resident
Locations: Winterthur, Berg and Ermatingen. The clinical lead in implantology applies to all six locations.
Dr. Franke is founder and Master of Science in Implantology and Periodontology (University of Witten/Herdecke). Focus on prosthetic implantology, from single tooth restoration to combined periodontal-implantological restorations. Takes over the clinical lead in implantology across the group.
Orthodontics
Dr. Athanasios Toloudis, Master of Science in Orthodontics
Locations: rotating between Rapperswil-Jona, Berg, Küsnacht and Ermatingen.
Dr. Toloudis is a certified orthodontist and treats children, adolescents and adults with all orthodontic procedures. Patients from Winterthur or Bellevue are referred for orthodontic treatment to one of the four orthodontics locations, the general dentistry remains at the home location.
Focuses:
- Children and adolescent orthodontics with early treatment in the mixed dentition and main treatment in the permanent dentition. More in the article Orthodontic early vs late treatment.
- Fixed appliances (brackets) with steel, ceramic or self-ligating systems.
- Aligner therapy (Invisalign) for adults and adolescents. More in the article Invisalign vs fixed braces.
- Functional orthodontic devices for treatment of crossbite, overbite and growth control.
- Retention restorations for securing treatment results.

Sedation and anesthesia
The Resident group has its own anesthesia team with specialists for nitrous oxide, twilight sleep and general anesthesia. The anesthesia availability covers treatments for patients with dental phobia, pronounced gag reflex or extensive treatment need in one session.

Locations: Winterthur, Berg and Ermatingen.
Anesthesiology specialist FMH, trained at the University Hospital Göttingen. Co-founder of narkose-team.ch GmbH. Standard is intravenous sedation with propofol and, depending on indication, general anesthesia. Focus on anxiety patients and children with extensive restoration need.
Dr. med. Cedric Benz, anesthesiology and intensive care specialist FMH
Locations: Zurich Bellevue, Rapperswil-Jona and Küsnacht.
Double specialist for anesthesiology and intensive care FMH. Stations at USZ, Triemli, Waid, KSW and Privatklinik Bethanien, formerly emergency physician of Rega. Owner of Anästhesiezentrum.ch AG.

When specialized treatment makes sense
Not every treatment requires a specialized practitioner. Routine treatments are performed by general dentists at the closest-to-home location. We recommend specialist treatment for:
- Complex orthodontic treatments with combined surgical-orthodontic procedure.
- Treatment under general anesthesia or deep sedation due to phobia, disability or extensive procedures.
- Treatment of children with complex treatment need under general anesthesia.
How treatment is organized
- Initial consultation at any Resident location with assessment and history.
- Indication: if specialized treatment is sensible, we refer internally to the responsible specialist.
- Written treatment plan with the specialist treatment in detail. More in the article on the cost estimate.
- Treatment at the specialist location with full infrastructure and team support.
- Aftercare usually at the closest-to-home location, with jointly shared patient file between all locations.
